I remember days like that in Pennsylvania, gents. Cold, clear, still. The silence was so so thick it felt as though the bombs were gonna drop in another minute.

I will just state my perspective on matters of mojo—this might be useful, I dunno! I have fought a number of creative projects to completion, sometimes using triage, sometimes a hammer. And I have felt apathetic or I have felt depressed about not being able to do things as well as I thought. I would think based on what you are going through with the gear would be frustration, too. However the bright side is always and forever gonna be experience gained, results made! Your paint job is great, Lyle. You could lay out the gear issues as a separate problem here for the folks to provide a solution. More often than not, I am grateful for the moment when you leave a comment on my little fandangos that lifts my spirits. I know you are experienced and capable, brother. Just warm your hands on the fire, stretch your legs and clear your mind. You will prevail.

Bruce, thank you so much. Gear issues are mainly the number of small parts and crappy instructions. That, and my hands tend to be somewhat stiff - have some arthritis going on. I have always struggled with tiny pieces-parts. I also have stubby fingers. I'll make some scans of the instructions and take a few pictures in a bit. Enjoying the sunshine and coffee right now.

Comments from you guys are always uplifting and positive. That is what separates us from so many other groups. I am determined to finish this thing. One way or the other, it will be completed. I do not plan on doing a load out, as it is resting on the ramp. I do like the paint finish but I've noticed that even now, some 3-4 days later, there seems to be a bit of tackiness....or so I think. Could be my imagination.

Here are a couple examples of the instructions....
Nose gear? Just stuff it in there with no real locating info. Love the three-piece seat, too.



Finally, glued the nose gear bay in place. About as much structural integrity as a piece of cooked spaghetti. If you look closely you will see some weights behind it. There is also a "blob" of Liquid Gravity beads in the nose. All told, I'll be adding an entire piece of this weight material - supposed to be for Soapbox Derby racers. It was a bear to break apart.





Main gear instructions/piece count. There are some very thin, fragile pieces here. The engineering seems a bit flaky to me.

Morning! It’s raining cats ‘n dogs here. Even in (usually) sunny California the out-gas/curing time for paint tends to take longer in the winter. 4-5 days. So no worries yet, Lyle. Let her breathe another 24 hours. Back As a kid I made a curing box with my Dad—a 40 watt bulb inside. Does anyone still use these, Lyle?

You know.....I built one of these Revell A-10's a loooooooooooooong time ago and seem to remember the nose landing gear strut to be weak. Progress is looking good so far Lyle.

Bruce, another brilliantly, clear day.....about 20F (-6C for you Fahrenheit challenged folks). Headed toward 60F (15C) in a day or two but with high winds of 40-60 MPH (80Kph) and heavy rain. At least it isn't snowing. There were some pictures on the electric telebishon of the lightning in SoCal. Impressive, to say the least. I've thought about a drying box for some time. Don Stauffer over on FSM made one. Looks interesting. I'm sure the temp in my work space is delaying the cure.

Looking for ways to strengthen it, Joe. Will take pics when I get it where I want it. Weights are glued in.
