The 15 is a small aircraft but it is still larger than the Spitfire - Just. When they're up on their gear I'll do another comparison.

I love the black & white underside scheme. Never understood why nor the purpose of it. My guess a trick to the eye from the ground.

I'm not 100% sure - I think it was some kind of identification marking. It was dropped pretty quickly after Dunkirk and most of the aircraft had been repainted with Sky at the time of the Battle of Britain.

This particular aircraft was flown in the Battle of France a few months earlier.

Made a bit more progress this afternoon..



Pretty pleased with it thus far.

It was for rapid visual ID purposes. It was discontinued during the May 1940 Blitzkrieg, when different colors were tried on the undersides before Sky was selected. Shortly after the Battle of Britain ended a similar ID marking was adopted by Fighter Command when the underside of a single wing would be painted in black.

So after a last push over the weekend - this is how far I've got. The painting is finished, the clear on coat is on and asides from the prop tips and a touch up on the main-wheels all the 'bits' are painted.



On to the decals next!
