It's not a technique that I use myself, but I think the undersides do look good. All the successive stages up ahead should do just what Jim says and tone it down and blend it all together.

About two aircraft builds ago I got into pre-shading and haven't looked back since. Looks like you covered the shading well enough to let it show through without going overboard! Good goin' on this.
Thanks everyone!! I seem to have a knack for painting US Navy aircraft to make them look worn. All I do is preshade then slowly build up the main colors till it looks right to me.
