Hi Guys,

Apologies for a lack of posts, sorting the house out prior to moving out next month is still taking up most of my time - I spent four days last week sorting out the attic of the 16 years worth of crap we had up there! Ten truck loads to the dump later it's now done thank God.

I have been working on a few kits in the spare time I have here and there. I've gloss coated the Vampire ready for decals...



I've also painted up and gloss coated the F-15B I was working on...





I also dug the F-14A off the shelf and painted that up too - I've gone for an early 80's grey scheme.



Because they get pretty beaten up, the paint being super easy to mark, I've also started to beat it up a bit - I've tried using a slightly darker grey applied with a stippling brush...



Still a long way to go. I'll hit it with a grime wash after gloss coating it and applying the decals.

They’re all looking good Stuart! I like the idea of the beat up paint on the Tomcat. Carrier based aircraft get constant spot paint touch ups while at sea for corrosion control, especially around access panels, so they tend to get that patchwork appearance.

Thanks Carlos, that's pretty much the effect I was thinking of If anything I might need to make my 'splodges' darker...

Oh yeah, so it has. That Hornet is looking pretty beaten up too.

A cruise at sea does nasty things to aircraft.

Tropical sun, salt air, sea spray…

Carrier aircraft are not sitting in a nice protective hardened aircraft shelter.

It's also down to the paints used - they're super matt and if the ones used by the USN are anything like the anti-erosion paints we used to paint the Eurofighter parts in, you can't touch them without leaving a mark.
