Good thing I’m an Admin!
How much does a pirate pay for corn?
I don't know, how much? (I'm almost afraid to ask with Stik's reaction.

)

I should of known, lol.
Time to get things up to speed here. I only manage a few hours at a time at the bench, so there hasn't been the need to update to often.
I started mucking with the engines, since those need to be installed in the booms. They had some pretty nasty looking edges, and seams. Which I know won't be seen once it's together, but I opted to take the dremel to it, and try to clean things up a little bit.
I have the wings and flaps glued together. Pretty well had to apply putty along the entire leading edge.
I spent several hours yesterday working on masking the canopies, and checking fit. I wanted to display everything closed, but I'm not going to get away with that on the front canopy. Here's the rear one. I glued the piece that was supposed to be displayed open to the rest of the canopy with Tamiya extra thin. Everything had gotten a Pledge floor shine dip too, so I shouldn't get any clouding of the clear parts.
Wasn't keen on the gap along the top, so I shimmed it as well.
Did the same with the piece on the right side of the front canopy that was supposed to be open.
The view from dead on in the front is still a bit wonky. I need to sand things some more.
I clipped off the tab on the middle section of the front canopy, and I'm just going to glue it edge to edge open. The piece is too small to fit properly, and just keeps falling through the main canopy. So it will have to be displayed open. It will look entirely horrible if I try to fill the gaps with clear glue. The gaps are just too large for that. If this thing comes out looking half way decent I'll be happy. I know it's not going to be a show stopper by any means.

Oy..... ready to throw in the towel yet?

Told ya was a horrible for a re-issued kit.
Time for you to have another go around fighting this one. I can already see this kit laughing and taunting you to bring him down. Keep at it, Keyda.

Compared to early MPM, Special Hobby, or Eduard kits the Monogram P-61 is a walk in the park! You just have to build a few newer Tamiya kits to clean your palate before tackling any of these!

Honestly I think you’ve done miracles with the canopies. Egad they looked horrible. Kudos to you for not throwing in the towel!

My hat goes off to you for finding a way to build this particular kit. Tremendous work so far.
