Brandons_Iron wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2026 8:33 am I love the Mig-3. I know it's not a great aircraft but it looks really good. I love all the work you did on this one. I don't recall what paint I used on my Mig-3, but I didn't encounter those issues you did with the white not covering the primer. She looks spectacular now. Great work! :shoutout:
Thank you a lot, Brandon! 🙏🏻 I think that MiG-3 was a looker for sure but as you said, not too successful as a fighter. I created my own problems with the paint on this one. I was really dumb to lay down all that gray primer; I had plenty of other choices, including some Vallejo white primer. Ah well, live and learn! I shoulda known better. But as they used to say in Australia, "she'll be apples!"

Okay, I've been pecking away slowly and finally have all the fiddly bits on, including the radio aerial wires, done here with stretched-sprue. Oh man, it had been a long time since I had to do this much rigging and I did take it bit by by, and careful to not rush the glued joints as I usually do. I'm going to set up my lightbox and camera/tripod next week and see how they look then. I've never photographed an airplane model in the lightbox before so it will be interesting. Looking through my display cabinets revealed six model planes finished in recent years that have not been photographed yet, as well as several older ones without photos.

Until better photos come along, here are a few teaser pics taken while they're parked on top of a display cabinet, complete with dust. Not much to 'em but they'll give an idea how they look! Thanks for following along and thanks for taking a look!
