I am most impressed with how well that guy fits. Man, this is moving along well now. I can't wait to see everything painted up and the cockpit closed up inside! Bring it on Bruce!

First - BlackSheep, there is a company called GHQ whom makes white metal war game, war and train figures and parts. My Dad used to use them for his train details. You can trim white metal pretty easily as Carlos pointed out and CA will adhere it to most anything. I was trying to find my Dad’s masterpiece scratchbuilding locomotive which has GHQ details that have withstood two decades in place. Highly recommend GHQ!

I am going to quote what David Allen wrote to me: “For seated pilots go to Master Details in the U.S., and slightly diminutive (as helps with tight cockpits) P.J. Productions in Belgium. Also, Ultracast in Canada produce superb Mike Good sculpts for WW2 pilots. Between us we cover the ground.”

My Humbrol order is trucking across the country towards my doorstep. Thank you, Sprue Brothers. Now I have to prepare all of the figure parts for painting. I usually use hard bar soap to thoroughly wash oils from the resin. I might follow the soap bath with ammonia. I think I will look for cocktail sticks at the supermarket tonight to use as painting supports, too.

Just checking in with your Mustang build, Bruce! Awesome pilot figure that you've picked up and it seems to fit the cockpit well! With the figure, additional aftermarket detail in the cockpit really isn't necessary. Can't wait to see some paint on the figure! I assume you'll be doing some putty work at the figures joints?

Happy Halloween everyone! Thank you so much for checking in, John, sincerely. Thank you. I was about to do the same with you, but I decided to wait and you beat me to it. I hope you are well and your family is, too. This figure is being held together with pieces (sounds better than “blobs”) of Blu-Tak and kneaded eraser, which as expected will push the gaps wider open than should be. The figure is separated into arms-legs-torso-and head, with a wide range of adjustments available to each limb. So, once I move from painting to gluing there will be no gaps at all. Now I just have to move... forward. I am also starting to prepare the fuselage as well. Mainly I am coming to grips with my own slow pace, I am not sure how you juggle the real gains from getting work done with the realities of the other elements of living just yet... considering the realities and learning what is possible alongside past lessons are my goals. Again thanks and thanks again for being a source of wisdom and inspiration. Be safe amongst the ghouls and goblins tonight.

Wow! Incredible, Kari! What a wonderful post. Great WiFi. I was wondering if anyone wears costumes, but this is probably naive... although one never knows who will be in the mood to celebrate. Happy Halloween!

You ever figure your overheating problem out on the car?

Joe, thank you so much for asking. I was at the shop yesterday. Diagnosis: new radiator. The old one gave out; its lower seam popped. Fingers and toes crossed that this was the cause. I started worrying about a blown gasket, but the fluid leaking from the car was radiator fluid and not mixed with oil. I still need to have a service done, although I changed the oil and filter.

Look at the dealer’s recommended repairs... and prices!
