Cool. Have you figured out why the XF-20 looks so... tan...? It looks like you wrote, that it is "yellow." It does! A problem with the paint?

I am completely unsure. When I look to Gunze H315 it looks almost the same. That's why I need to check at daylight and make a photo. FS16440 is the supposed color...

Please let us know! I like Gunze a lot, so I am not sure why there is some kind of color shifting, but the images you took are proof. You are smart to wait for daylight.

The question is does Tamiya's XF-20 match Gunze H315 and FS16440?

Under certain lighting conditions, 36440, aka Light Gull Gray, can take on some tan properties. I remember noticing that on aircraft at El Toro in the early 80s. Of course Tamiya paints are not FS matched, so you’re only getting approximations with their colors. You’d be best off using other brands for a definite match.

I ordered Gunze H315 and FS16440 yesterday to rework the Phantom.

The new paint hasn't arrived yet. So I played last night with lightened XF-20. Front and tail not painted so you might imagine the difference.
