Looking damn good Lyle! That's a great coat of white gloss! This aircraft always looks so odd to me almost like something Walt Disney would of created. But I guess if you put a big enough engine on it you can make anything fly.

I have recently been doing a red/white scheme. Looks like you had better control and less overspray. Any advice on that?

Thank you. I wish I could offer some sage advice, but it is likely dumb luck. But, I thinned the white )Tamiya X-2) slightly, had a smooth, primed surface to spray. And let it rip.this is two coats and it has been rubbed down with an old t-shirt. Masking will use Oramask 810 material, cut on the Sihlouette cutter for the scalloped and curved edges. The rest is yellow Frog tape, scraps of paper, etc. to cover the rest of the model. Oh, I burnished the edges with fingers and cotton buds and then sealed those edges with some Future.

Then I killed a chicken, burned some incense, spun in a circle, counter clockwise of course, and removed the masking. This time it worked.

I probably should have burnished the edges better. I am always a bit apprehensive about that, that the tape might stick to much and then lift the paint.


And the chicken. I forgot the chicken.

There is your problem...got to have the chicken. One thing you can do with the tape is place it on your shirt then peel it and use it. Makes it a little less stocky. Then seal the edges with something like Future.

The Gee Bee sort of reminds me of a cross between the P-26 and I-16. And both are designed around the biggest engine of the time and the smallest airframe that can handle it.

Borg, we’ll find out if this works tomorrow when I spray the red!

The first coat of red is on....so far, it looks okay.
