Alright MOJOs, a lack of dullcoat thwarted me last night. I did stop at Michael's Crafts on my way home (the only local option for Testors Dullcoat now), picked up the can, walked to the front of the store, 2 cashes open, 32 people in the cattle stall orderly lineup. This pasty Canadian doesn't do the cattle stall orderly lineup. Set it down, will go back today before it gets busy.
Anyway, tried a can of "Krylon Satin", still too much sheen:
Took a slice off some sheet acetate, to be used as gunsight after the dullcoat goes down.
Hmm, pic looked better on the camera, slightly out of focus though. Kit-supplied loop antenna on Red13. A little heavy, but the attachment point actually has some good lines, so I kept it as-is.
Craft store "beading needle", compared to Hasegawa kit-supplied loop antenna on White16:

Nice fix on that loop antenna. I'll have to remember that the next time I need to upgrade one. Thanks for these great pics; keep up the great work.

Yep, I just stumbled across those things while waiting for the Mrs in a local dollar store. There were a couple different sizes to pick from, 10/package. Snip off most of that coiled wire and BAM! Instant loop antenna.

Dullcoat on, acetate glued in place, waiting for everything to dry well before painting the base of the gunsight. (Let's all pretend that my camera was capable of zooming in on details like that - I swear, there is an angled piece of clear acetate there with a base, just waiting for paint....)
Now, the Testors Dullcoat vs Krylon Satin confrontation. Well… it depends on the angle & lighting to be honest. Not surprising I guess. First pic, the flat looks fine, too much sheen from the Satin. (and you can see some texture to it - maybe THAT's what bothers me most?) Second pic, not much to choose from between them.
