SPA Modeler

Hi,

After my mainstream AFV F-5, I wanted to start a new project that requires more personal work. I just started the Yakolvlev UT-1b from the Ukrainian manufacturer Mikro-Mir. The UT-1b is based on the trainer/civilian UT-1 which was equipped with two 7.62 ShKAS at the beginning of the war against the huns.

Documentation is scarce but I managed to get a copy of the manual of the 2-seater variant from a fellow French modeller.

The Mikro-Mir kit looks pretty good and is boxed with 2 PE sheets. But it ain't no Tamiya, parts have to be thinned down or replaced. The decal sheet is Zvevda-esque, if you see what I mean....



That's a very small bug. I never built that small.

Nothing very fancy to show right now. Hopefully, more interesting pics to follow.

I like small kits, they build quickly (or they should at least...)

Honestly, with the little time I got for modelling, it will probably take me at least 3 months. I already spent 4 days just to thin down the wing leading edges, sharp as razor blades.

I still have to visit Hannantsitan. Fortunaly, I live a 45 minutes drive away from the protectorate of Aviationmegastorium!

Anyway, still following, these are exactly the kind of build that I like!

This will be an interesting build. I've never seen that aircraft or model company.

Thank you Borg for the link. I actually bought the beautiful Vector engine, the NorthStar looks a bit better thanks to the addition of the PE sheet.

With the engine being such a prominent feature I can understand why you choose an AM engine. The kit's engine is probably not that great since it is a short run kit.

Knowing Vector products that is probably going to add a lot to the overall look of the model.
