you know how I said I cant finish one project without starting two more? Well, here's the second one!

Academy's P-51D in 1/72 scale

academy decals are notoriously crappy, so I'm gonna source some markings from teh spares pile

now, I started this one before I got the mega-haul at the club meeting, so that meant the only markings I had were naval! Whaaaat?

as always construction started with the cockpit. Nothin fancy here, just added some tape seatbelts

And I thought you share going to scratch build a Mini Mustang. But this is almost just as good. :boxing:

Well you could do a USN "what if" Sea Mustang... after all the idea is not too far fetched...

navy-stang it is!

got the whole bird all put together, only minor smoothing of the joins was needed.

A Navy 'Stang? A nice idea - I've seen one done before in an FAA scheme with folding wings...

Yours looks really smart( nice job on the pit), I like the triple camo on USN birds - what colours did you use?

I used those little testors enamels
mixed up some light grey for the white base with progressively lighter shades, sky blue for the middle color, and sea blue for the top color. for teh fading, I mixed in white with the base color until I got the tone I was looking for
