SPA Modeler

This is one of the projects that I am currently working on. This is my first ever Bf-109 and figured I go ahead and jump directly into the deep end and try my hand at scratchbuilding some parts. In the cockpit I used lead foil from a wine bottle to create the seat belts. I also created a seat pad by folding up tissue paper and coating it with a mix of 50/50 white glue and water. I then painted it with MM acrylics and then a wash of burnt umber artist oil and turpenoid.







I'm a little farther along now; however, I didnt take any pics of the last couple of phases. I got focused on getting parts added here and there and forgot to take pictures.

Well AND realistically used!

Actually, no...well some of them. I used the cockpit decals and thats it. I have ordered a set of Erich Hartman decals from Eagle Decals. They should be here tomorrow. The sheet has markings for 3 different aircraft, so I will decide when they get here as to which one I'm going to go with. I'll definitely keep the thread updated.
And yes, I will be doing more 109's. I think my next one I am going to do in a US captured scheme.

Love the scratch building. I still can't make seatbelts worth a damn. I am quite good at turning plastic into scrap, though. Beautifully done. More please.

I really like the work you're doin' here jelliott! These little cockpits in these 109's are a blast to build because there's so much detail crammed into such a small space. They really can't help but look busy.

Nice work indeed. 1st 109? Might as well start figuring what your next one will be now since I don't it's possible to build just 1.
