This is a little fighter with a strange looking landing gear, some of this Ms 406 are flying today on airshows.





and the suomi special, they take russion engine from shot down fighters and installed them to there MS406. so they called this
Mörko Morane (kit from MPM)

That is a good looking pair of Moranes - great job on the camoflage!

I am always amazed by the amount and variation of material and subject matter that is now being produced by so many different manufacturers, and I have never heard of this aircraft and to read your story of the Russians using the engines from shot down aircraft to be used in their own was fascinating.

It was actually the Finns that put Russian engines (Klimov M-105) into their Moranes... to be able to shoot down even more Russian planes.
This resulted though also in the fact, that the plane needed a better cooling systesm... so 109's oil-coolers were installed..

Some few Mörkös saw action as most of the Moranes was pimped-up more or a less when Finland had already exited the war..

The particular example Cherrylock made (MSv-631) shot down one Russian plane. MSv-631 also survived the war... but was scrapped 1st of Oct 1952....

Mörkö actually means Boogeyman...

The adaptation of a russian engine in a french plane might sound a bit strange but the Klimov was actually based on the HS (the 12y, license build as the M-100) engine that originally powered the MS-406.

Another interesting note is that the Swiss also build the Ms-406 as D.3800. Most surviving examples are actually Swiss build planes:

As for the models, I like that Morko, those old MPM kits are often bears to build but yours, once again, looks great Cherrylock.
