Stik urged me to post a WIP of this kit and I tried to resist his Jedi mind tricks, but I have failed.

This is my second try at this kit, first time was in the '80s when I didn't own an airbrush. That build was lost long ago, so here is my attempt to recapture my childhood:

Coat of flat black:

Then a panel fade with panzer gray:

Panel another panel fade with lightened panzer gray, applied decals and tracks:

Super glued the tracks to the top of the road wheels for some sag and started assembling the infantry dudes:

Did a wash, threw some Mig Europe Fine Dry Mud on it, some Tamiya weathering stuff, started doing some Mig Rain Marks on it (but haven't finished it yet), and got this figure to his present state as of today:

Ohh I love the 251. Excellent work on the weathering of the Panzer Gray.

Like every other Tamiya armor kit of that era, it builds up real easy. :giggles:

Yes, easy except for the right fender didn't quite fit right, seemed like it somehow got deformed in the box and had to be bent back into shape, and the drive sprockets don't fit snugly. Or maybe it's just my incompetence . . . :bored:

Perfect! Love the weatheing, rusty-ness, worn out ness and all that. Neat.

Get on it then! Seriously though, any of the older Tamiya kits are great for building up your armor skills. They are engineered for ease of assembly and can be found for a good price. :tank:

I remember this kit when being waayyy younger... :bag:
Never tried this "black base coat" thing, but looking at your build I think I should give it a Go some day. Really, I like the appearance of your grey paint job! Well done!
