Yury Serebryakovs Viking, 10th century

Hi all,

Finally, theres a new big bust on my bench. I got it from a friend, and should be real fun to paint it.

Yury Serebryakov is an incredible sculptor, and the bust was a real bargain. Not cheap but for what she is, it would have cost much more elsewhere... great. And it has tons of details to take care of - especially the fur. Ill leave the eye/nose protection shield off - just look at his face, would be a real pity to hide it.

Except for metal areas I use Vallejo and GW paints - as always.

Welcome, Owl.

I added a scratched nose protection, and painted the fur. It had been painted wet-in-wet, that means grey base coat, with brown washing while it was still wet. I let it dry, added another brown washing, then drybrushing with grey/light grey and white (decently!) followed.

Man, I am not into figures or busts, but yours are immaculate! I am on my knees! The "Kettenhemd" (mail) is stunning! How did you do this?

Have seen this bust on FB before. Remembered it because of the beautiful details.

Indeed this is brilliant work. The fur looks very convincing.
In this stadium his face looks like he had some rare meat... :stirpot:

Thanks Port. :) Some more work was done on the helmet - as always with Hubrol MetalCote, those save loads of time!

The Skin tones are looking really good - as is that helmet, that metalcote looks really good. I'll have to get some....(might even have some)
