Always felt these eggplanes looked so corny and cute. So a couple of weeks back i caved in and ordered the mig-15 version of Hasegawa's eggplane series!



Initially i wanted to do a natural metal finish on it since the vast majority of migs came in that livery. However... I also like the schemes such as this one i found at wings palette:



Yes yes it's a chinese one and the box only offers me russian stars but since the eggplane is caricature like in nature anyways i was figuring i could be forgiven for overlooking this tiny detail.

Before i purchased it i didnt even know what scale it was. But when i opened the box and found no less than 15 (!) whole parts inside. And yes, it truly is the size of an egg! So cute...



Construction, obviously, took me about twenty minutes during morning coffee... The pit consists of a seat and a decal for the IP, and thats it! But then again i did not buy this kit for realism or high detail.
So after some light assembly work i am currently in the filling and sanding stage. As soon as i get a few moments off from life and work i will spray her with primer.

Like i was saying, construction only took a few moments and filling/ sanding took three times as long. First time i have been using Squadron Green putty by the way.Kinda like it sofar



Next step was a coat of Vallejo's white primer, followed by Vallejo pale blue for the undersides.



To get the camouflage stripes on i decided to use poster tack, rolled in little sausages to mask the yellow and black green stripes. So first up was the sand color. (Tamyia Deck Tan)



The sausages went on and i proceeded by spraying Tamyia dark green. Now came the abracadabra bit.... I continued using the same sausages i applied earlier and simply pressed them down a bit in one direction so i ended up masking the dark green right alongside of the sand colored stripes. On went the final, lighter green color. I used Tamyia's NATO Green.



And here we are: Three tone camo!



Total time spent sofar, maybe 3 hours

that camo looks great. Silly putty works wonders

Good results - I've just ordered myself some Silly putty to try my hand at masking camo - great to see it in action.

I have never used silly putty before so i cant comment on that. Tried playdoh and that was horrible...

I personally exclusively use poster tack putty. Found some at hobby lobby and the office section over at Target

I've read where silly putty don't play nice and a safer bet is to use poster putty. They tend to be more forgiving than silly putty.
