here is a former shelf of doom model.
I used the old revell kit as the basis.
the wing leading edge mod was created using sections of wings from the parts box.
I cut off the aft fuse section behind the canopy and used a modified bomb
from the parts box to make the turtle back. I made the stabs for the tail using plastic card .
to make the canopy frame I used plastistuct 90 degree angle channel.
I used a piece of clear acetate for the aft section, and after making the front windscreen
frame from the plastistruct pieces , I used elmers glue to simulate the glass.
this is where I ran into trouble. I was unhappy with the result so it sat on the shelf of doom for about a year.
my granddaughter saw it and stated that she liked it , and asked why I hadn't finished it. I explained why
and that's when the idea hit me . I asked her if she would like to have it and she stated yes ! I then asked her if she
would like to paint it ? she stated yes and was really excited . I finished the assy of the aircraft so she could paint it
and after some guidance from me this is the result. this model was painted using a brush and kayla seems to like the
mottle style paint schemes.
I learned from this experience not to be so critical of modeling. It is supposed to be a fun , relaxing hobby.
now that the model is completed I learned to like it and kayla is very proud of it.
it is a model that I can say we built it together and will cherish it forever .
