1/72 Folland F.1 Gnat - Special Hobby

Ok, let's try to make something about this little fighter jet from the 60's.
It will be a OOB build, no extras, I am happy if I will be able to finish this..
As some of you might have read, the little fellow had some adventures before it landed on my bench..
But here it is.. finally!
All in all it looks to be a decent kit.
Some testfitting with this bird gave some goodie-good vibes and I believe this smallie will be a really good one!
So the work started with the engine... In total 4 pieces (!) makes the engine, paintbrushed and "weathered"...
and then assembled into a tube.. :-)
The pit paintbrushed with RLM66, everything pretty tiny..but still some visible details..
Instrumentpanel is pretty complex thing, in total 3 pieces + 6 different tiny decals..
As BsYamato also noticed, you can build this kit with either open or closed canopy. But the decision needs to be made pretty early in the building phase. There are two differernt versions of the instrumentpanel, depending of the decision/selection.
I decided for once to build something with an open canopy...
Instructions tell to add about 1 gram of weight in the nose cone. I used lead weight for this purpose.. in total 1,35 gram, to be sure... :-)
In with the squeezed lead weights and some glue on top of it to stabilise them.
And finally the moment when the fuselage halves were glued together...
To get an idea of the size of this jet, here next to my half-ready F-18 C ..
