1/72 bf109E-7 'Tropical'

Post by Stuart »

I'm currently building the Tropical version of Aifix's new tool 1/72 bf109E kit - to go with my P-40 in the 'In Foreign Service' GB – basically I’m doing them both wheels up and mounted on a homemade stand together in a ‘Dogfight’.

The kit itself is pretty good, and a reasonably good copy of their great 1/48 kit which I highly recommend. Hopefully this’ll be my first finished Luftwaffe build as although I’ve started a couple, I’ve yet to finish one.

So far all I’ve done is assemble the cockpit (not too sure of the fit of this into the fuse halves) and paint a coat of RLM 02 (I think – Humbrol 240) around it.

Cheers!

How did you find the fitting of the cockpit when you went to button up the fuselage halves? I found mine to be pretty bad on the test fit.

ok, so it wanst just me! It took some creative clamping to get things closed up. I ended up with a bit of a seam that needed a spot of putty. The rest of the build went pretty good though!

 not just me then - actually I don't recal the 1/48 kit being that brilliant either!
