Hi Folks, as promised, here is the final look of my Starfighter build. Hope you will enjoy the final images as the work in progress photos. Doogs "three layer blend" was influential in the paint work. There was no pre-shading at all. the cone got the 'black basing' technique. all in all trying new stuff and exploring something that I am not comfortable with.

Hi Blacksheep. How about this? I never shoot in white, just not confident enough, but seeing JimD's photos.. I was intrigue... and tried it out. got a spare white poster at home. I still have to perfect my skills on taking photos with white background.

And I do like the background addition as well. That looks better than many Hollywood products. I agree with Jim that a clutter/confused background (such as those cutting mats or some folks work tables- no offense to those who take their photos in that manner) detracts from the subject model. But a good stand and nice background like yours can really enhance the model as in your case. It looks right at home ready to go hunting.

Thanks guys! I like old kits and turning them to something that they should be worth at. its hard work, and some of my club members say its just a waste of time, but I have a different opinion on that.

Jim - I have yet to find that translucent surface where I live. Still using regular white carton paper... and yes... minimizing shadow is challenging with paper that absorbs light. Maybe will stop by at a larger store this weekend.

Texgunner - I really didn't like the Starfighter. The kit was a gift from my club and I sort of "had to make it". I could easily kept it as stash but reading an article on the F-104 in FlyPast really turn my light bulbs on.

The 'scenery' shots were inspired by photos done by Steve Zaloga and Sheperd Paine when they took photos of their models. A few years back, I used light blue "Hyperscale style" photo shoots. But I am trying out something new here. I did a couple more shots of "the same picture but with a white background" and just trying out the differences. Try to compare these with my scenery shots.
