SPA Modeler

Hello, I thought I would share my latest build. It's the Hasegawa Henschel HS 129 B-2 variant with the slower firing MK 101 Motorkannon slung to the bellly. It's in the SG9 markings of Rudolph-Heinz Ruffer on the Russian front in early 1943. Ruffer would score 80 tank kills earning the Knight's Cross before being KIA after being bounced by VVS fighters in July of 1944.

The kit was excellent and needed very little. I added True Details wheels and some Eduard PE in the cockpit, particularly the seat, the belts and the instrument panel. The decals were from Superscale.

This ugly duck is one of my WWII favourites. The design was highly underestimated by the Luftwaffe command.

I reallly like what you made out of it. The colors harmonize perfectly with each other. Maybe the white decals could be toned down a bit more. But I won't judge that point on a picture, I know how decals can behave under light.

The duck! That's exactly what it reminds me of.....ha! Especially with the yellow bill. Perhaps that's what Ruffer was going for. Indeed the white looks bright in the pics, but it's not too bad in person. I don't get to keep this one as its on its way to Massachusetts. Thank you both for the kind words.

i am just speechless. blown away. everything is just perfect.. the kit…the weathering.. the base…. everything! congrats!

First prize from me! As others said; a beauty! Really, all looks just right. Maybe, only the exhausts could need some rust colour. Together with the nice base it´s a head turner!

Thanks everyone. Thomas the exhaust are painted to simulate rust (XF-64). Maybe I overdid the dry-brushing of the tips. Regardless, Thanks for the input my friend.

I'm about ready to start the Tamiya DO 335 for the same person who owns this plane. Perhaps I'll do a work in progress thread on here.
