This is my take on the venerable Opel Blitz kit from Italeri.

Not very complex, but still holds it's own after all these years. Biggest issue I had was this one was molded in red, black and tan plastic.

Given my prediliction for armor modelling you could guess where this was going.

Krylon Gray Primer makes a good base.







Wired the engine a little bit then realized the hood was molded shut. Not any more.





Four different colors later I had my mix for RAL 8000, a desert yellow brown used early on in North Africa

As promised, an update.

A nice relaxing paint session yielded these results.

The base coat.









I used another mix of Tamiya colors to come up with RAL 7008, Graugrun .





A stencil set and Tamiya Flat White was used for the Africa Korps palm symbol.

Looks very good, but where are the wings?

Very nice! Excellent camouflage pattern and I commend you on the remarkable stenciling.

Most of the older Italeri 1/35 armor/softskin kits are pretty sharp! They still hold up well to this day. Much better than most of the Tamiya kits of the same vintage. Nice work so far G!

For you mentioned the different colours of the plastic: is this the 1/35 or the 1/24 scale kit? I once did the larger one, and this one had the multicoloured plastic. A pretty well fitting great kit!

This is the 1/24th scale kit. Thought I'd try my hand at weathering something larger for a change .

Here's where I'm at as of this afternoon.









Weathering is done with mostly oils at this point.

I got some really neat stowage items from Steve at Value Gear. They are from his 1/16th and 1/20th scale set.

So by picking and choosing appropriate size items I can go for a real "Indiana Jones" style diorama.
