I picked this kit up at one of the IPMS club meetings--Hasegawa, 1/72. Ill be building this one OOB, and using the snarling boars' head markings. It turns out this is an older kit, re-popped with special decals. If you're fussy about raised panel lines, then you might want to avoid this kit...



It also comes with an angry snake-head. Thats going in the spares to by used on another kit


I know I said it'll be OOB, but the basic seat was....basic. A bit of tape helped to spruce things up a bit


Im a little miffed that Hasegawa doesnt provide any cockpit detail, just decals for the instruments. A resin replacement would do wonders here, but the decals should be good enough for a closed cockpit.

Watching this one with interest! I've got a 1/48 A-10 "C", that I'm working on from Italeri. Good to see that Hasegawa got it right with the IP in the pit. Italeri's is an "A" model, being billed as a "C".

Very nicely done! I think your cockpit looks fantastic despite the lack of details. Way to go! I also want to build the snarling boar one day.

Yeah no kidding! I wish someone.......ANYONE....would make a resin "C" pit for other kits.

had to tape the hog together to make sure I got the nose weight correct. No tail-sitting here!!



dunno if it was those fishing weights I added, or just a warp in the parts, but assembly required me to clamp and glue in sections....







the little exhaust tubes have some nice detail hidden away for those sharp-eyed observers

all together and ready for sanding! ...yay?

ummm...seven?

the amount of putty required on the bottom was annoying. Hase designed the wing with a seam line that runs all along the underside of the ailerons and flaps! That means you have to fill and sand for a smooth surface.





the primer coat helped reveal areas that needed a bit more work...

I caught a few hours here and there between family visits and holiday parties (mostly later at night!) to work on the hog a bit more. I smoothed down the areas that needed touchups, and sprayed another coat of primer to make sure everything was good.

first, darker camo




then, the lighter grey






....im thinking a combo of the yellow work light and a sleepy OWL resulted in a hog that a bit....darker...and blue-er?...than it should have been. Whoopsies!

still, I kinda like it.
