Hey all, I had a little time so I figured I'd post these pics of my first aircraft for 2016.

This is the 1/72 scale Williams Bros. C-46 Commando finally completed:

I painted this all in Testor's Model Master paints and Wal-Mart Grey Primer.

That's all for now. Thanks for looking in, comments are welcome.

I never heard of the C-46 until you started the kit. Well done, Duke.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it.

Lyle, be prepared for a big fight, especially trying to out the two-part canopy on the fuselage. See the early part of my Maddog Manufacturing 2015 Thread; or my 2014 Maddog Manufacturing thread to see how I did mine. The wings will give you a fight as well. I also had a tough time matching the fuselage sides well. Interestingly enough, I was lightly taken to task by two fellow IPMS members because I didn't do the "Flying Tigers" Airline version. I told them I had a tough enough time just making this thing green!

Blacksheep, that is interesting considering this was the most common plane to fly the Hump taking materials and supplies into Chine during WWII. It was large enough to pack a lot, and the engines were powerful enough to get it over the Himalayas.

Thanks again guys!

That is such a pretty airplane! A pitty that they are not modelled that often.

Way to go Duke! Great looking C-46, ready to fly the "Hump" no doubt. The fight was well worth it man! :shoutout:

Thanks guys! I appreciate the great compliments. I apologize for not responding sooner but I never got an E-mail notice alerting me to a reply.

Thanks Gino, while it ain't perfect, I'm pleased with the final results.

Borg, I agree, this is a nice looking aircraft. It's too bad that a more mainstream company doesn't put one of these out; the Williams Brother's kit is a real challenge to assemble to say the least; not to mention a serious lack of decent detail on it.

Gary, thanks; she's ready to go. It was a tough fight but yeah, the results are worth it.
