Here we go. Sitting here listening to the sound of clamps popping off the wings. Love it.
Sprues
masking the cracked canopy.
I've sent Minicraft an e-mail asking for a replacement. We'll see.

Lyle, to me the first two pictures look like being the same?!?
Why was the canopy cracked? Hope your chair wasn´t in aggressive mode...

Following this build since I have the same kit you have.

I can promise it won't be fancied up. Completely OOB most likely. I got the long-nose a few days ago. Cherrylock built both a while back.BlackSheep214 wrote:Following this build since I have the same kit you have.

Should look ace when being airbrushed in Aclad! Lyle, I´d first paint the wing in matte white or yellow as a primer for the gloss yellow!
Re: MiniCraft 1/48 X5F-1
That is the plan so far. May use rattle can Chrome Silver, though.Thomas_M wrote:Should look ace when being airbrushed in Aclad! Lyle, I´d first paint the wing in matte white or yellow as a primer for the gloss yellow!

"...should look Ace!" - I don't know Thomas. Bought some Rust-o-leum primer and gloss (black and white) and a gray. Here is where it is today.
That is a bit of Perfect Plastic Putty. There was a slight indention at the wing/fuse join. This early version has no wing fillets, so i'm trying to get the join as straight as possible.
I had also forgotten how iffy Minicraft plastic can be. Soft and soapy texture. This build almost met the Hammer of Doom not too long ago. Assembly seems a bit stupid. The engine cowl rings are a part of the engine assembly. They are separate, but have to be added with the props. Not doing this, but not sure what I will do. The nacelles are just as goofy. Very poor attach points, gluing surface and you are supposed to add the landing gear as you join the halves. No wonder I need coffee.

Re: MiniCraft 1/48 X5F-1
I see your point, Lyle. I guess back the the guys who did the design job of a kit never had build one their own... So they went away with some rather stupid designs.
You are on a fast path! Wings and fuse together, wow!
You are aware that a gloss silver finish needs a gloss (black) base coat?

This really wasn't all that fast. To get this far only took a dozen parts.
