Greetings!

So I thought I'd start one of these here Gallery things as everyone else seems to have one. I don't actually finish that much but it’d be nice to keep them together to see how things progress.

It probably should be pointed out that most of my modelling time is to be found during my lunch breaks at work, where I sit in the back of my car with a tray on my lap. Other than that I sometimes get a little time at home where I sit at the kitchen table. So, given this ad-hoc type of arrangement – please excuse the poor photography, poor builds, really old kits (I build anything – AIRFIX, FROG, Matchbox, Monogram, EMHAR – even Hasegawa and Tamiya) ) and bits of dust that seem to get everywhere.

Hopefully the following will be interesting – although I’m a user of the hairy stick, I’m going through a phase of seeing what just can be done with it. I’ll post up and ideas I’ve come up with in case they may actually be useful to somebody.

Oh, and apologies if I waffle – I tend to do that…

First up - My 1st finish for 2016.

This is my first ever Armour build - Airfix's 1/76 Vickers Light Tank mk.IV.

The kit was mounted on an old CD along with some Airfix 1/76 British infantry figures. The scene is uspposed to depict the BEF in retreat to Dunkirk in 1940 and was a fun little project. Although the kit is old it fell together and needed very little filler. The paint was a Humbrol Hu30 Rattle can and Humbrol Clear Gloss and W&N Acrylic Matt Varnish. It was weathered with Humbrol weathering powders.

I wanted to give it a real beaten up apperence in order to show that the crew had been in constant action against the Germany Army and had not had time to clean or maintain the tank. Obviously the tank is has the turret facing backward - to show that these guys were very much on the run. The Vickers Tank crews were very brave men. they went into action in a Tank that was very lightly armoured, and had no really effective weapons against anything other than softskins and Infantry, and knowing this they got in them anyway. he only advantage they had was speed and the Vickers could reach a whopping 35 mph!









I really enjoyed this build, and shall certainly build some more small scale armour.

You undersell yourself my friend. Those are some very nice builds! I really like the trio of USN aircraft covering WWII, Korea, & Vietnam.

Thanks Stik that's nice of you to say.

I'm really into USN aircraft - they flew some really interesting types. I have quite a few more builds in my stash and I'd like to build a display of these showing the various types they've operated over time.
