Hi all,

Here is my next project, the pretty new kit from Airfix; P-51D Mustang 1/72
including instrument panel from Yahu + those "wonderful" canopy masks from p-mask. Unsure if I will actually use them at all or do the masking with tamiya tape..

Not yet sure what camo, however not the cover art. Not so fond of it.

Very crispy and nice details.. looking forward to this build!

That IP does look nice.

That is a lot of nice detail on a 1/72, for sure. Should be fun to watch.

These are nice kits!
I've done 6 so far, and another in the stash!
Only problem is the landing gear. Every kit I've had had a pretty severely warped gear strut...but it can be bent back to where it needs to be. Also, the stubs that the wheels mount to need to be trimmed down a bit, for the wheels to go on. Fuse halves are also warped, but nothing that glue and tape/clamps can't take care of!

Have been spending some evenings with the Mustang and can just say after test-fittings etc, marvellous little kit all in all.

Here the cockpit and semi-ready self-made belts. Material lead thread. Already some "conservative" weathering.

The instrument panel of a Mustang is very deep under the dash-board (or whatever it's called), resulting in the fact that it can hardly be seen when the fuselage halves are joined...


And here we go, the fuselage halves become one!

Have not had almost any benchtime since last time... so very tiny update just to keep the project alive...

Wings attached... Also realizing that the beautiful Yahu instrument panel is hardly visible even without any canopy glass or so...



Not really visible in the picture, but I drilled holes where the guns are or should be. Will "fill the holes" with Albion Alloys metal tube, to look slightly more realistic.
