Here's the base kit...


Going for the scheme for Andrew Turner's 100th FS bird...painted the interior a nice shade of interior green and the dashboard I treated like a instrument panel- using some Mike Grant gauges...

For the main body start- I had the gloss black on...


I plan on painting the front fender red and using the same style as seen on the front of Turner's plane:


And progress as of last weekend:

Looks like we're seeing a trend here. I know a member here did one as The Old Crow Mustang. Looking forward to seeing the complete build.

Will the hood be painted Olive Drab as an anti-glare panel just like on the P-51?

I thought of that right after I had sprayed the Alclad II. I have to look into how resilient the Airframe Aluminum color is-- if it's anything like the other real shiny ones, masking tape will pull it off...if that's the case I would hesitate to mess with the finish...

Alclad shouldn´t make any trouble when the kit has been degreased and a coat of primer got on before the metallic paint.

This particular shade (and one or two of their others) does not hold up to masking (or even excessive handling) as well-- but you can't beat the shine. I'm not willing to take the chance of it not working and having to strip it down and redo it all...especially with the decals on....I'm happy with it as it is even though I agree the OD stripe down the hood would look great.
