SPA Modeler

I've been knocked flat the past couple of days due to bronchitis, but during my few semi-lucid moments I decided to get cracking on not one, not two, but THREE FREAKING KITS!!

First up is the special box 'erself GALM 2/Solo Wing Pixy from Ace Combat Zero. The kit is Hasegawa's F-15c, in 1/72 as usual. I still had some extra PE cockpit detail from my last F-15 build, so I pulled that out to add. I also scrounged my spares and weapon sets for enough missiles to equip my air superiority fighter.



here is a pic of Pixy, and the scheme I will be doing:



The Galm 2 decal sheet offers markings for multiple planes you g unlock in the game, so I grabbed my F-20 Tigershark (hasegawa) and Mirage 2000d (Italeri).

The Tigershark will be marked as enemy ace "Vampir", who's plane is all black. Similar to that "mig" in Top Gun!


The Mirage will be marked as enemy ace "Schakal", with a desert-splinter scheme

Glad to hear you're getting better.

A couple warm-days allowed me to work outside on the deck. Nothing like some fresh air to help cure bronchitis, eh?

here is the F-15 cockpit, I used Eduard's ZOOM photo-etch for the instrument panel, and a Quickboost resin seat.





Some extra PE seat belts and greeblies were then added to the Mirage cockpit. Nose weights too. Not gonna have any tail-sitters here!





I then used the original seat and plastic IP from the F-15 kit to spruce up the F-20's cockpit!

+ interesting to see that you leave the fuselage half still attached in the sprue, while working on the pit.

First time I see such an approach!

A really good start Owl - those cockpits look superb and I'm impressed with how you've mixed out the parts to spruce up the other kits.

I'm looking forward to seeing the F-20 - it'll look great in that scheme!

heh, that was more to help keep all the different kits separate and organized...
