SPA Modeler

I picked up this kit, several years ago, from a vendor table. The A-7 being my favorite jet...I could not let this go. I wanted to get right on it, but several things stopped me from diving in...mainly, the shape issues up front. In doing a little research, I discovered that Zacto-models made a resin correction set, including seamless intake. I contacted Zacto-models and only found that the sets were out of production at the time. No luck on e-bay or anywhere else. I waited for about a year and a half, for the set to go back into production. Next thing stopping me...aside from time and size of the project...was the scheme, and how I wanted to load it up. I'm still in Limbo on both accounts.



I have two a/m decal sets, but am torn. I dig some of the older V-man era schemes, but I don't really dig how clean the grey over white schemes are. I love some grey on grey with grey trim and all the dirt and grime on them, but most of the schemes/markings for a Dessert Storm bird are a little bland. Also, I want to load it up as a full on "bomb truck"...which I have not found any pics with a large loadout for a more modern A-7.

That said, I have 12 MK-82's from Academy's 1/32 F-18 kits...not sure if I want to mount them on four 3-packs, or two 6-packs.

Anyway...having 1/72 dominate the bench for the last several years, this beast seems like an elephant sitting on my bench, that I'm gonna hafta eat! Gonna be a long, slow project...little bit here, little bit there...eventually, it'll get done!

Hate that to hear about the out of production correction set. Hopefully one will either turn up on a place like ebay or at a vendor table.

The set is there! Got it after about a year and a half wait.

Fermis' going big - now this makes my day! Never built 32nd as a serious modeler, but I think with all those morgen of surfaces a clean bird is a no go. Black base, tonal variation, dirt and grime. I'm sure this is going to be a fun build.

Oh, and be prepared: you will need a lot of paint.

I'm gonna swing by the Home Depot later on and pick up a couple gallons of paint!!!

Just look at all that beautiful dirt and grime!!!



I'm not a fan of the "Arm" on the tail....kinda cheesy...but I LOVE all the marks on the nose!

Haven't really gotten into this one yet.
Just put together the bombs (MK-82s from Academy).
Since I'm going with a Navy bird, I stippled some Tamiya putty on, with a sponge, and gave em a light sanding.

Ablative (?) coating.



Painted and decals (still needs dull coat)

(some grey tail pieces for variety)
