Airfix VC Icons set

I know I’ve probably mentioned this before but as I have no permanent modelling area, I have two modelling tray things that I work on, each with their own basic set of tools/materials so I don’t have to keep swapping stuff over.
The kitchen tray (where I use all my water based materials) is in full swing at the moment with the almost finished Fury and the Saturn V, but my other tray, which I normally take to work so I can do some modelling over lunch in my car, has been laying idle for nearly two months - mainly owing to a lack of Mojo and too many work commitments – And the fact that now I take my son to school before work every day, and his booster seat takes up the space were my big toolbox used to sit.
So today I decided to rejuvenate my lunch time modelling, I’ve found an old smaller toolbox that fits into the foot-well and moved my stuff into that – and then a very strange thing happened…
For the first time in as long as I can remember I didn’t have a kit in WIP or a GB to start – which meant that I could actually pull a kit out of the stash! That hasn’t happened in ages and was a rather nice experience.
As it was I’ve decided to go with this – The Airfix VC Icons set. It’s a rather nice set with four old tool kits and brand new Cartograph decals depicting various Victoria Cross Winners of WWII.
I mainly decided to go with this as I’ve recently decided to build all the kits that I’ve been given as presents over the years – and this had been sitting in the stash for the longest. I have already started it to some extent – the Hurricane was finished and the Blenheim and Hampden had their interiors started – however work ground to a halt as the Blenheim moulding was knackered and the fuselage very badly warped.
Thankfully I found an older boxing of the Blenheim a few days ago for a good price on fleabay, and picked it up. Granted it might have helped sway my decision to pick this up again this morning – but I do think it was a bit of a coincidence. I’ve also had sitting on my shelf for a few years a corrected nose set for the Fairey Battle which will also be used.
As I’ve already built the Hurricane, I’m going to build an old toll Airfix Boulton-Paul Defiant in its place – mainly because I also have the correct nose kit for that too and it’d be rude not to.
I'm looking forward to getting on with this - I've never actually finished a Twin and it'd be nice to get some more interesting types into my RAF collection.
