A couple of Matchbox Clunkers - F-5B and F-16A

Hi All,
Coming back from my break over the summer, I started these two old kits about a few weeks ago to ease myself back in - The Matchbox 1/72 F-5B and F-16A.
Both these kits are ones I remember from my youth - so this is a double nostalgia build!
They'll be put into these marking - The F-16A will be in a experimental C.A.S scheme whilst the F-5B will be Spanish Airforce circa 1980.
And here is the current state of play - both kits have had scratch building done to improve the very sparse cockpits!
And the F-5B...
More to folow - thanks for looking!
Cheers!
Stuart

Oooo.. a couple classic clunker Matchbox kits indeed! I remember those in my youth years.
That reminds me. I stopped by a local Ollie's store and came across a couple old AMT aircraft kits - 1/48 scale Tempest and F4-U Corsair kits on display. Gonna do a little research in scalemates later to see if they're worth picking up. They were selling at $5 each.

Nice work so far Stuart! Not a thing wrong with building those old "clunkers". Lots of fun to be had there.
Black sheep, at $5 a pop for the old AMT Birdcage Corsair and Tempest, those sound like reasonable deals. If they are original issues, I highly sugggest AM d calls as the originals were crap when issued. If they are the new "Round 2" re boxes of the classic, I can't comment on the decals, but you are getting a good price. Those sell for three times as much at Hobby Lobby even with the 40% off...

Stik -
The AMT Tempest and Corsair kits had Retro Deluxe stickers on the box cover. I'm going to assume they're reboxed kits?

With that sticker, it has got to be a rebox. Sounds like a good deal to me. Perfect for trying out new techniques on that you are worried to try on more pricey kits, or for introducing a young family member to the hobby.

Hi All,
Here's a little update on my current builds - No progress on the F-16 as yet but the F-5B has been painted ready for decals (Has since had the rudder painted white).
I'm currently working on getting all the minor parts painted.
Regards
Stuart
