Been doing a little here and there...mostly at the airport, while waiting for snow to pile up enough to get busy moving it. Got a little ahead of myself and forgot the obligatory pit pics, before closing it up....best I can do at this point...

Weapons from a Hasegawa set...CBU's are from HobbyBoss' A-7 kit.



Since this build will be traveling via the US Postal Service...some extra work is required to toughen things up a bit. I used brass rod to make pins that will run through the fuse/or wing parts, through the pylon and into the stores. As of right now, these will pressure fit without any need for glue(they will get glued though too).







Customer wanted AMRAAMs loaded up on the missile rails. The kit includes AIM-9s. I cut off the rails for the AIM-9s and replaced them with the rails for the AMRAAMs from the Hasegawa set.

That pit looks superb Fermis - it's interesting to see you building 1/48. Some really nice modifications on those pylons - the brass is a good idea.

That cockpit looks pretty good. I am guessing you still have some work to do on the seatbelts?

"The customer": so this is a made to order model? Cool! I do not think I could ever reach that level. Nor part with a model I have build.

Nice work so far Fermis! Great idea firming things up so they travel better. The 'pit looks great too, well enough that I want to pop in and start flippin' switches!

I thought the same thing at first, especially the part about parting with it. Then when I finally did it (as a gift to someone at first) I found it was very rewarding. Getting paid for it also helps a lot. Now if I build something for someone that I also want; I can get two and build one for me and one for the client.

As I was painting this thing..."I do not miss this scale"...so much ground to cover, especially with the way that I paint. I've got about 5 hours in the paint booth with this monster, and it's only one color!!!

It's funny, I completely forget about a lot of them, until I go back through some pics. I really don't have a hard time parting with them. The joy is in building them. As many as I build...for the space I have....I'd be throwing away old ones to make room for the new ones. I have a much harder time throwing away builds, than I do with selling them (not just because of the money). I've done over 100 commission builds in the last 5 years. I have 225 finished builds on display, that are parked comfortably...many of those would be in a landfill somewhere, if I wasn't doing commission work. I probably would build as much though, either....money motivates!



Got this sucker painted up...

Nice work on the paint! I love me some good looking Strike Eagles. I really like builds of this bird to show the faded and worn paint like you'd see on the actual bird. Yes, there is a lot of surface area on these 1/48 monsters.

This is all Fermis' work, cant take the credit for this. I did a dual F-15E build last year, but this is all Fermis and he's knocking it out of the park!
