1/48 Hasegawa Macci c.202 Folgore

I thought I would post my progress on the site and catch anybody interested up on my progress since I’m new to SPAM.
I’m building the 1/48 Hasegawa Macchi c.202 Folgore with the Eduard flap PE set and the CMK Italian pilot/mechanic figures. I absolutely love Italian aircraft with the Falco being number 1.
To forewarn you, I’m not great on figures but with some pointers from another site I hope to get better. I could always use some pointers from anybody.
I started with the usual pit, fuse hales, wing/tail attachment and seam filling. I added some of my own detail into the pit, drilling the holes into the seat and constructing tape belts with some extra PE for the buckles. The upper cowl did give me a little problem. If I had just popped it in, the center would have sunken lower than the rest of the cowl. I had to glue the front and center then glue the rear once dry. I started installing the flap PE set prior to the wing attachment to make it easier to construct the ribs. I continued to install the rest of the parts once the wings were assembled.
Now to catch up, I was able to get some work done yesterday and painted the green base coat. I will apply dots of Silly Putty and go over this with the sand color to get the effect I want. I’m going with the box camo scheme of 150 Gruppo.
After talking with Stickpusher and doing some research I decided to not go with Hase’s color call out and instead go with the Stormo color guide,

This is what I found.
Grigio Azzumo Chiaro 1 (Light Blue Grey 1) or FS 36307 Light Sea Grey for the gray underwing and inside the flaps and wheel wells.
Nocciola Chiaro 4 (Light Hazel 4) or FS 30219 Dark Tan
Verde Oliva Scuro 2 (Dark Olive Green 2) or 34052 for the green
I noticed I had something wrong with the port gear door. It sits way too low and almost scrapes the ground. I need to look into this and correct it.
I worked some on the guys and repainted the flight suit green rather than tan. After looking up some colorized picture the flight suits were green. The vest and parachute will still be tan. I'm having a hard time with the mechanics face. I can't seem to get it to look right. The pilot is looking good to me though...maybe a little sunburnt but.....well they are in the desert after all.
That's all I have for now. I'll get some more time on it soon.
