Hi folks,

I've wanted to build this one for a few years, and finally got around to it recently. This is the Dragon Bf 110D/E kit, and I've carefully had to choose various parts to create an E-1 with extended tail, such as Rudolf Hess flew to Scotland in May 1941.

John Vasco has been good enough to help me with some details about this bird, and it was him that informed me it was an E-1. Most online sources describe it as a 'D', but they are categorically wrong. I've also made a few modifications to this too, such as removing the ammo drums from within and rebuilding the racks without them. The same goes for modifying the rear MG mount, which had no such gun fitted for this unarmed flight.

This one will be appearing in Military Illustrated Modeller, issue #39, out in June. Hope you like it.

Very nice cammo and mottling. Looks like you painted it in 74/75/76? Was the real bird painted in 74/75/76? Or is it impossible to know for sure?

Yes, the real machine was in those colours. Further 'evidence' is that Eduard kitted WkNr.3866 (only 3 machines away on the production line) in their Royal Class set. I actually used the camp pattern from that and copied it to this, minus all the unit colours.

Superb finish on this Zerstörer, James! Mentioned Mr. Vasco, he also helped me out with a build two years ago. His knowledge about this plane is outstanding.
One question: Are the gauges in the engine nacelles represented by decals?

These are the Eduard colour PE parts that glued in behind the clear lens with some white glue.
