Whew... finally crossed the finish line on this build! This is the Hasegawa 1/32 Fw190D-9 kit built to represent Hans Dortenmann's famous yellow-tailed "Black 1". I threw a fair bit of aftermarket goodies into this build including:

Eagle Editions 190D-9 Resin Cockpit Set
Eagle Editions 190D-9 Radiator Cowling
Eagle Editions 190D-9 (Early) Tailwheel Set
Eduard 190D-9 Brass Flaps
HGW Fabric Seatbelts
Quickboost Fw 190 A-series gun barrels
Henri Daehne 190D-9 VS111 Resin Prop and Spinner
G-Factor 190D-9 Metal Landing Gear
EagleCal Decals
Montex Masks

The build started here at SPAM in April and through various twists and turns, we've finally arrived at our destination. It was great fun sharing this build with all of you, all 50+ pages of it! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have.

Good evening, John! First, congratulations on your Dora! Maybe "first" and "last" words will be the same: congratulations on your wonderful build of this challenging subject. From your exquisite choices of kit and aftermarket to your superb scratchbuilding work, the journey's narrative is a testament of your personal growth as well as your personality. I have never seen anything quite like a "John Kim Build" firsthand in progress until now and now that I have I look forward eagerly to the next one that comes along.

Your work really holds up, John. I have looked at a fair number of 1/32 Black 1 versions, and I feel that yours is "top," as Thomas Mayer wrote when he first saw your work. Top as in top tier. Enjoy your evening, John, for this night, you completed an incredible work of art.

Thank you guys! I do appreciate the nice comments especially since there is no more work to do on Black 1. it's been quite a journey and I wonder if future builds will take this long. I hope not!

Here are some pics of Black 1. Sorry for posting so many photos but I am elated to be finished and feel like a proud papa showing off a child! The pictures of the bottom were done yesterday prior to attachment of the aerial for obvious reasons. I think my biggest accomplishment on this build was giving the bottom the same type of weathering attention that the topside normally gets.

This wasn't just a build of a scale model, it was a journey. All those small and medium problems you had to face, that tried to corrupt the process. It was a pleasure to witness the smart solutions you've found to overcome them all.

It's not an overstatement when I say, that your D-9 is the best Focke-Wulf 190 I've seen in 32nd scale to date.
Congratulations to that milestone of your hobby work, John!

It has been a most fantastic journey that you took us on here watching this project from start to finish. Watching your thorough photo log and reading your techniques, as well as your answering of questions has been an introduction to many new methods and ideas for me. To say that your end result is most impressive is a serious understatement. Thank you John for sharing your efforts here with us every step of the way and showing us how you work your masterful skills in this hobby.
Bravo sir!!!!! :shoutout:
