Here at the end of 2017, I managed to finish one final aircraft. It is very poorly done, but it is done. I built it out of the box...literally: only using what was in it. This is why the decals look so bad and the windows have dimples. Personally, I like this little bird, despite the issues.

Here is the ancient Airfix USAF Jetstream in 1/72 scale:







Someday I might get another one of these and do it up right with new windows and far better decals.


I know it is pretty crappy, but comments are still welcome. This was built as a practice for doing a white over bare metal finish on an aircraft.

Mark, I can see where it could use some fine tuning. But for OOB, it looks just fine. I could swear that I have seen a few of those over the years flying into Los Alamitos here...

Carlos, thanks. Yes, there is a lot of fine tuning needed, but this was mostly a practice build. I did it out of box since I knew I was going to be experimenting with different techniques and products on this. Of course, once I start something I have to try and finish it so this one got finished. I'm happy with the result. And I wouldn't be surprised of you did see these fly in. They were used extensively as a liaison aircraft by the USAF.

She looks good, Mark, as always. If I remember correctly, you didn't let little things like old decals and dimpled windshields hole you back from finishing anything you started.

So, how ya been, Mark? It's been a while since our old home closed down, hasn't it? I've got a couple of wingie things I can tackle as soon as I finish working on my old ship, the William H. Standley. I got that kit just before the LEM shut down and finally started her yesterday. Take care, my friend and I'll see you around the forum.
