SPA Modeler

This is my third kit, currently in-progress. It's the first model I've used an airbrush to paint and so far, so good I guess.

^^^That's where I left it when I finished work on it yesterday. I did some small fills and sanding today, and will prime it and start painting it, tomorrow. I'm excited to try out my new airbrush on it, and also terrified at the same time. I've put a lot of work into this kit so far, vis- it's the ProfiPack edition, the one where you can display it with the engine cowl open or closed. I wanted to display it with the cowl closed. That was a little bit tricky. Took an extra day. That said, I'm really enjoying building this one. It's a great kit! Here's hoping I don't dork the whole thing up when I start shooting paint at it. I'm going for Franz Von Werra's plane. We'll see.

Very nice smooth finish in the cockpit, love how you have managed to "bend" the PE belts, so they hang in a very natural way!

Eduards E-series are wonderful kits, the engine itself a piece of art. Even if more challenging to get all bits and pieces together compared with their F and especially G series.

That's a good choice for sure for a comeback into the hobby. What I love on those kits is that you got it all in the box, no after market stuff needed at all. Especially the masking set will spoil you for future builds. Never again without (like condoms, lol)!

The only thing I dislike more than painting a canopy is trying to cut masks for them LOL so “Thank you, Eduard!” A lot about this kit has spoiled me. They’re a dream to build.

And thank you for the kind word about the cockpit. I’m pretty proud of that. There’s just something I dig about building and detailing cockpits. I don’t know what it is. I’ve got a Dragon Hobbies 1/32 BF 109 that im kind of itching to get started on, because of the cockpit. I’m forcing myself to wait.

Well you sure have good taste in kits. Another nice choice for a project. And everything is looking great so far.

I started with the white on the tail and the tips of the wings. At first I was going slow and steady, misting the areas with paint. I should’ve put it down and come back to it, but I got this compulsion to keep going. I ended up with some small runs along panel lines and seams, and some uneven coverage (nothing a little sanding won’t take care of). Another lesson learned- go slow, thin coats, build it up slow. I’ll remember that when I start shooting the light blue tomorrow, weather permitting.

Thank you! I’ve built a Tamiya kit, a Hasegawa kit, and now this Eduard, and I have to say, I enjoyed them all but this kit is the one I’ve enjoyed the most.

You’re starting with some top notch kits... you’re gonna get spoiled...
