Man Room Meanderings

Post by Jeeves »

While work finishes on my last in-progress review, here's what else I've been up to.

Been working on finishing up two of my GB builds on another site so I've got room to focus on the big Rhino kit from Takom. First up- a Midway Buffalo-

Also the Academy Humvee which I am truly enjoying. Using some of the stowage from the Meng Toyota Technical kit as well...

Great to see a Brewster Buffalo from Midway, love the blue color!
I wonder how they managed against the Zeros...

But but... something is a little bit weird with the landing gears there. I am afraid the right and the left landing gears have switched places...

I was gonna say something about that landing gear... it’s way too splayed out. The Buffalo had a narrow track gear like the F4F. Otherwise your build looks pretty sharp Jeeves.

As for how they fared against the Zeros... not well is putting it politely. The Marines were outnumbered, outclassed, and outflown. The most battle experienced naval fighter pilots in the world, flying the hottest naval fighter in the world, in superior numbers, against mostly younger pilots in their first battle. After the first surprise pass in which they knocked down several Japanese bombers, the Marines were mauled. Only a handful survived.

Yup...I was made aware of this easier...looked back and I misinterpreted the directions which aren't the best but it was a goofy mistake on my part...fixing as we speak ;)

It's the Czech Model 1/32 kit from Squadron...

Finally fixed the Buffalo gear...sort of ;) This kit was a real bear...want to use another b word but you get the idea. Glue wouldn't set well with this plastic...no real attachment points...I could go on and on...but time is better spent on other things ;)

Now the Brewster looks as it should, in other words very good!

I really like the blue color, very nice!

I wonder if the Czech Model kit is precisely the same as Special Hobby ?

I have the 1/48 Brewster from Special Hobby (more or a less just a shrinked 1/32 scale version) and it's more or a less pain in the b* to build... Shelf queen for the moment...

I believe they are of the same vein...if not the same mold ;)

The Buffalo is painted with the new Bombshell Brew paints- their USN Blue Grey shade to be exact...really easy to use and I really like the finish.
