Zvesda 1/100 (?) Ripslinger (from Disney's Planes)

I just completed a Zvesda 1/100 Ripslinger. Ripslinger is the badguy of Disney's Planes but a nice design with contra rotating props. All the aircraft from Planes are based on real aircraft. I think Ripslinger was "inspired" by the Nemesis NXT:

Altough the enginering of this snap tight kit was unconventional (using a centre frame to bolt the parts on) the fit and construction was easy. I build this together with my 3 year old son and it toke about 15 minutes, which is the upper end of his attention span so that was great.

I think there are several routes for building this kit.
- Unpainted, straight out of the box, like we did. With the stickers and mulit colored plastic the end result is good enough for most kids.
- Straight out of the box but with painted details. The whole thing could benefit from painting just a few details like the gear. I am going to follow this approach with El Cuppacabra, a Gee-Bee inspired racer with a large radial. So that is going to need some paint.
- trying to recreate the movie look, fully painted, no bare plastic. This would be hard because of the lack of decals.
- make a whiff, scratchbuild a cockpit, paint a fancy color scheme and make a one of a kind whiff
- lastly, try to make a real model out of it: like this http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/build ... 2061.shtml

End verdict, I am very happy with the fun we had building it, fit and engering are very good for the purpose of a snap tight kit. I paid € 5 for this kit at the aviationmegastore and I will pick up other if I run in to them.

One last remark, I am not in to collecting but I think these might become collectable. Zvesda has probably got a license from Disney for a limited duration so no reissues. Just think of the old Robotech and Babylon 5 kits. Some story.

Oh god, i need this.

The official planes wiki claims ripslinger is based on "Precious Metal" a griffin powered mustang. Im more inclined to go with your idea though.

You want this, you NEED this! :D

But seriously, these a fun and well though of kits. Not like the horrendous snap tights when I was a kid.
I am inclined to buy another Ripslinger and make it into a Whiff 1930's racer, those contra rotating props would look great on any plane!

Were looking at getting a pair of dusties for a pair of boys who are obsessed with it. My partner babysits them on occasion and were pretty close with their parents.

I wanna get Alpha and Bravo and Skipper. I had thoughts of getting a tamiya F4U and building it as a realistic Skipper.
