Time to reboot this!
I pulled the paint from the boxes—Gunze Olive Drab 2 and Black, Mig-AMMO Weathering Washes, Tamiya Gunmetal for the tools, and Testors Military Enamel for anything else.
Debating to sink this in the mud or have it roll free coated in heavy mud (first photo in the first post).

What is this?
Also, where do I find one in 1/35?
Thanks in advance,

It’s a searchlight. In this particular case there is a canvas lens cover. Which was standard procedure when not in use.
Tank Workshop makes one in resin

Thank you so much, BlackSheep! Now that I know what it is, and since it will be covered in canvas, I am thinking about using a Sharpie marker cap mated to an Itoya Calligraphy marker cap, adding the side bulges which in the photo received special “ear covers” if you think of the searchlight as a face...
M48 Reference: I owe some fella whose handle is Frenchie over at Armorama for posting these online:
You can see the “ears” clearly and best of all the mounting points! I know the mounting points to the tank vary based on the model’s design but the framing is the same.
Planning surgery:
Although for the K.I.S.S. Method, I may simply use the Sharpie cap, drill out openings, fill the back, add the wiring harness then drape a thin piece of Milliput over everything.

First coat: airbrush OD 2 / Gunze Lacquer over Mr. S 1000
Note: Mantelet + Barrel are unpainted—position only

You’re off to a great start Bruce! I’m really liking the surface detail on this kit!
