That’s a beautiful shade of Yellow.

A few years ago, I met Rex and Anne when they were passing through the area. Later on, I find a box in the mail of acrylic paints - Floquil RR colors, Aeromaster, Badger, a few Pollyscale colors as well. That yellow was one of the extra paint colors he sent me.

I've been researching my next colors for the Skyrocket - particularly the silver and cockpit colors. Looking at actual photos of the XF5F Skyrocket, it appears to be it didn't have a shiny fuselage but more of a flat tint. See below:

With that said, I've decided to use Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminum. I had originally thought of using Tamiya Bare Metal Silver in the rattle can.

Now fo rthe cockpit... There are no clear cut proof of what which interior green shade it really is. I'm going to do a pallet of different interior greens and go from there. I've narrowed down to the following:

Testors Model Master Green Zinc Chromate Green

PollyScale US Interior Green A/N611 - FS34151
Testors Model Master Interior Green - FS34151 (I want to see if there's a difference in shade between PollyScale and Testors Model Master brand)

PollyScale WarPac Green/ Mimetic Green - FS34258

Testors Model Master RAF Interior Green - FS33481

Great photos of the cockpits. This does help somewhat. But which one belongs to which version? The short nose or the long nosed Skyrocket? :hmm:
I suspect the bottom photo belongs to the short nosed Skyrocket.

For corrosion control, USN (and by way of default due to being part of the Navy, the USMC) used aluminum lacquer during the Yellow Wings era. They did not have bare metal airframes. This shot of some aircraft on Enterprise’s flight deck is great for color reference...
