KENNY X HAS A TANK

Recently I’ve gotten into building armor, mostly because I can’t do much more on my airplane until the PE stuff gets here. So to keep the shakes away, I pulled an old tank kit off my shelf and started building it. I’m just gonna log all my armor WIP’s in this thread.

So yeah, I got a Panzer IV me, that I’m working on. It’s that old Tamiya kit that probably everybody has built at one time or another. This is my first armor build. Here it is, just about ready to be primed:

I’m not doing the figures, and it’s all buttoned up. I think it looks way more wicked cool and menacing this way.

This was fun to put together. Different than an aircraft, for sure. I made and corrected several mistakes but I am happy with my tank so far.

Now that's a kit from the 70s I've never seen before.

You’re off to a great start, and that is a perfect introductory kit for armor. Have fun!

Alright! I’ve been working on painting this bad boy over the past few days. Here’s some shots:

After “priming” I laid down a very light, randomized marbling with NATO Black:

I say “priming” because I actually didn’t shoot primer at it. Instead I used Tamiya Flat Black. I have been using Mr. Surfacer from the get-go with my models and I wanted to do two things:

1. Get started on the painting. It’s been cold, and I only shoot that lacquer outdoors as you know. Too cold though. Unseasonably cold.

2. I also always wanted to try just going for it and not using primer.

So there we go.

Here’s some shots after a few marbles coats of German Grey:

It’s coming along, slowly but surely!
