Inspired by Kari's Jagdpanther thread over in the Armor section - I did something I very rarely do these days and popped into a model shop on my way home from work this afternoon, and bought a kit with the intention of actually building it right away (crazy I know).

I did wonder about a DO.17, but there does seem to be a fair bit of German :quotes: stuff :quotes: being built around SPAM at the moment, so being the resident Englishman I decided to wave my own flag and go British with this...

I have to say I really enjoyed the experience of actually going into the shop in order to actually buy something to build (but with no fixed ideas). It was a great shop actually (not been in there before), mainly aimed at railways but owned and operated by two guys that build models. They do have a REALLY nice selection of aircraft, autos and armor though - including the new 1/48 Revell Beaufighter and the new 1/32 Lancaster! But in the end I went for this rather nice looking Academy kit. I know nothing about it, or how accurate it is but it doesn't really matter as that's not the point.

There are a few sprues in the box and a really NICE selection of decals by cartograf.

Well there we go - let battle commence!

The whole shot is wide-open. Your oyster. You can pick ahthing you want. I like that feeling. I just go in with no expectations or ideas, and BOOM! That’s how my love affair with the Corsair began.

You sure picked a cool subject, and I can’t wait to see what you do with it when you wield your magick brush!

Great choice, Stuart! I am adding an important link with all of the aircraft information Past and Present. Of interest to all, I hope!

Thanks Gents and thanks very much for the link Bruce - it was most useful. I was wondering what the difference between an F.6 and FGA.9 was and now I know.

Nothing exciting but just to prove it went straight onto the bench - I've built and started to paint the cockpit.

The details are pretty basic, and no decals are provided, but as most British jets of this era had all black cockpits with mainly silver switches it shouldn't be a problem. I might see if I have any decals in the spares bin with which to spruce it up a bit.

Cheers!

The War Drums are beating! Good! I’m happy to see the Humbrol is out and you’re busy at work. Lay on, MacDuff. Lay on!
