Not quite that simple, but simple enough. The paint and decals were more difficult than assembly was. And I did that with minimal hobby tools and hand painted with those white handle Testors nylon brushes.
It does look nice! All those spindly pieces get in the way when I try one of these.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thanks Lyle. If I must build a car, Formula One cars are the type I would prefer. They don’t look like everyday cars, and are not mundane to my eye. Maybe some classic types too, but most car models just don’t say “build me” to me.

The Formula 1 car? It’s a Revell Germany kit. One of a handful of models that our little PX had while I was overseas. MWR didn’t have squat for us, and most online shops would not work with an APO address. My wife going to Brookhurst Hobbies with a shopping list from me, or a few eBay sellers were my only lifeline to the hobby for nearly all of my deployment.

I’m pretty sure that it was this one

Thanks, and yes she is. We had our 34th wedding anniversary this past October. I don’t think either one of us is going anywhere anytime soon.

31 years here, going on 32 this July..

I've met Carlos' wife and yes, she is a keeper!

There might be hope for my wife; recently while shopping Aliexpress; she needed something else to order to get free shipping. I jokingly told her to buy me a model kit. She handed me her phone and said, "pick one".

I have a 1/700 scale Peter Strasser aircraft carrier coming my way soon....

We are modelers - the same in spirit, in hunger to insanely buy newly released kits, hustlers in hiding our stash from our better halves and experts in using garbage as replacements for after-market parts.

Cool, Mika's ride from the 2009 championship season! I think it needs a friend to hang out with between all that hardware. Maybe a 70's era car?
Beemax/Nunu is doing some nice kits.

Well Torben, that build was left behind on Eagle Base in Bosnia when I left, on display in the cafe by the flight line. I have no idea where it is today, or if it’s not currently in a garbage dump somewhere in the area. So no partner for it made by me is possible. That being said I do have one more Revell Formula 1 racer in my stash that I bought there and sent home, as I never got around to building it. So one day, it will get a partner in spirit, but not in presence.
