First shots of the kit all parts except for the lower wing are in good shape, the lower wing is a bit damaged but nothing that should be a problem.

The kit decals being 31 years old have yellowed not surprised I'm 32 and nowhere near as bright and shinny as I use to be :giggles:

I've had this Verlinden engine set in the stash that I was going to use on a Dragon repop of Trimaster A-8/R-11 but I think I'm going to break it out on this build. Image

I'll compare the resin to kit parts later, It's getting close to time for me to leave for work. The white metal seat that comes with the kit is absolutely beautiful along with the white metal landing gear.

On this build I will be using a bunch of new stuff.
1. I have ordered some Maketar masks for the crosses, not sure how to use these, they don't tell you on the website just that color institutions are included well the three different masks sets I ordered none came with instructions.
2. Eaglecal decals, I ordered set EC#9 to replace the kit decals

3. Have some Airscale cockpit placards coming
4. HGW cloth belts

5. Will get to try out my new AK real colors

More to come later! Thanks for looking in.

Nice! Subscribed! You are definitely bringing some great aftermarket as well! I have never seen any Verlinden set up close before. That looks like some beautiful etch and resin!

Thank you so much for the kit Bruce, my favorite part of it is the white metal seat. The later Dragon repops had a styrene seat that looks nowhere close to a fw190. Verlinden sets are hit and miss i got this one at a show a few years ago, price on the box says I gave $8 for it. Aries also has a set simular but goes for around $40. Verlinden set resin cockpit looks very crisp the seat is a "what was they looking at when they designed this?" Because it like Dragon looks nothing like a 190 seat. The control stick looks good except it is broke in two but looks comparable to the kit stick. I have a few verlinden figures, can usually find them at shows for around $4 or $5 a piece some figures by them look great others look like stroke victims (nothing against stroke victims).

Very cool! This one should be a blast to watch! I really like the Blue-numbered A-8's on that EC decal sheet. One thing though... the HGW harnesses are going to VERY fun and I mean that in a sarcastic way! I just got done with my 1/32 harnesses on the Corsair and it took me all evening... 3 hours easy. 1/48 is going to a test of finesse and patience!

I've heard these belts can be a real pain in 1/48th, the ones you did for the corsair look great way better than what can be got from PE. The blue numbers is what called out to me I like blue 13 but won't say for sure until I get them.
