Here are a couple of in progress shots of my 1/48 Sea Fury for the 2019 Airfix Cup at the NSW Scale Model show on 18/19 May 2019 at the Illawarra Sports Stadium. It is posed in flight with an Aerocraft cowling and a set of Propblur blades:

I used MRP paints (Sky and EDSG) for the first time and happy with the result. The pilot is from the spares box (Airfix Hurricane ?) and the gunsight from an Eduard Spitfire Mk. IX kit.

I got to see a Sea Fury up close once at an air show here in Torrance back in the 90s. What a gorgeous brute of a machine! Especially once they started the engine... I was a short distance away and you could feel the power of that radial as it warmed up prior to taxi and take off... It made all the T-6s and other similar warbirds at the show quite apparent in the difference between a trainer and a real fighter bomber.
I had never thought much of the Sea Fury before that day. It was a end of the piston engine era, too late for WWII, leftover in my mind. No more after that. I fell in love with her there.

Very nice! I must admit to having a desire to buy that Airfix kit... something about a five-prop heavy fighter that appeals to me.

It is so special to see these and see them flying. I saw today on FB where the Northrup N9MB crashed today, killing the pilot. Sad.

Indeed. That N9M was on ground display at the same airshow where I saw the Sea Fury. Losing that aircraft is terrible. I’m sorry to hear of the death of the pilot, but the airframe was a priceless piece of aviation history. It’s not like there are more around.
