Some nice progress has been made! Tackling an open water scene is on my eternal to-do list.

I did some work to the Spruance water. I added the first coat of acrylic varnish and the first of the cotton. The bow splash still needs a bit of work but will be more spray than white water so will go on last.

just lovely work!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Just as expected from a ship from you! OUTSTANDING!!!! I'm always impressed by your craftmanship, and getting a chance to see it in person occasionally does so much more justice than the pictures! :shoutout:

Incredible! I know you wrote that you are going to make some adjustments but the spray looks really good! Seeing this makes me want to open the box of the Hamilton and get to work. Would you be able to detail how you paint the water? What colors do you use and how are they used??

Bruce, Thank you.
The water was painted using acrylic artist paints, thinned with water. I mixed several colors to get the color I wanted. After spraying, I went back with a lighter, greenish color for the under surface disturbance. The bow spray, while it may look acceptable in the photo, does need some more work. I will add cotton, then spray thinned acrylic varnish as I go to stiffen it. The glossy appearance is created by brushing on the same acrylic varnish.

Finishing up the Spruance I added some to the bow splash. Not 100% happy with it but I think I need to extend to splash a little further down the bow.
