1967 Monogram 1/72 US Navy A-5A Vigilante.

All things jet, no props and Stik...no armor even though the M1 is turbin powered.

Oh man, I love that Monogram ad! It is so incredibly true! Ah, the memories.....

I remember I saw this at a church rummage sale, but it was too expensive! Beautiful kit. Beautiful box art. That’s a balsa kit, too. Ahhhhhh.

Oooo…. I would have bought it. How much was it? Never done a balsa aircraft kit. You don't find them anymore anywhere like I used to find them back in the 70s.

I wouldn't mind taking the challenge in doing one.

$80 and this kit, in this condition is worth twice that, or more.

Ouch! Yeah, I’d pass on it as well.

These Speedee Bilt kits are rare. Complete and in mint condition, even more so. I would have been sorely tempted. These are not the same as the Guillows kit from later years.

Can’t wait to see your updates when you get back to the bench! The apartments seems to be doing “upgrades” just to raise the rent everywhere.

Thanks, Kevin. Hopefully I will be able to continue with the Vigilante next month. The Warhawk, a much smaller size in 1/72 scale and a newer kit, is easier to keep track of in a single box and is less finish fetish if that makes sense. Once the Vigilante wings went on I realized I was going to need a bigger box....

I do remember seeing those old Monogram balsa kits from time to time. At $80 it would be hard to pass up given the rarity of them these days.
